Back in 1972 Italian singer Adriano Celentano was obsessed with America. So much so that he decided to write a song, but probably one of the most unusual songs ever recorded. According to 2012 NPR interview he said this of the song:
"So at a certain point, because I like American slang — which, for a singer, is much easier to sing than Italian — I thought that I would write a song which would only have as its theme the inability to communicate," he says. "And to do this, I had to write a song where the lyrics didn't mean anything."
And Prisencolinensinainciusol was born. It hit #1 in Italy, not just because it was unusual, but because it's a great, catchy earworm even if you can't understand it:
