The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan featured a funny little song that might have had foreigners watching shaking their heads. So what IS the story about it?
Back in 1972, Italian singer Adriano Celentano was obsessed with America. So much so that he decided to write a song, but probably one of the most unusual songs ever recorded. According to a 2012 NPR interview, he said this of the song:
"So at a certain point, because I like American slang — which, for a singer, is much easier to sing than Italian — I thought that I would write a song which would only have as its theme the inability to communicate," he says. "And to do this, I had to write a song where the lyrics didn't mean anything."
And Prisencolinensinainciusol was born. It hit #1 in Italy, not just because it was unusual, but because it's a great, catchy earworm even if you can't understand it:
My favorite version, however, is this one, of Celantano and Rafaella Carrera performing the song.
If you want to attempt to sing along, here are the lyrics:

I'm totally going to have this song stuck in my head for the next week!
